From 2016 through 2018, in partnership with the Institute for Local Self-Reliance and with a wide variety of stakeholders, the Baltimore Office of Sustainability developed the Baltimore Food Waste & Recovery Strategy. This document lays out the reasons for rescuing edible food, recovering food waste, and composting; defines potential solutions; highlights seven local case studies; and sets ten major goals and 69 short, medium, and long-term strategies around the following topics:
